v1.0 Let’s Start Up!

Every community starts small, and they grew big as they go along the way, there is no exception to the #StartupLokal community, which is a community where we can meet fellow founders, developers, and investors and #StartupLokal acting as a melting pot between them.

The v.0 meetup born in such a coincidence, Natali Ardianto one of our initiators was going to interview someone at Starbucks FX Plaza, and there he met Rama Mamuaya of DailySocial, Dondi Hananto, Aulia Masna also Sanny Gaddafi which is Natali’s partner on the initiators team. An idea was born from that day which is that we should have this meetups every month, regularly.

So it was on, yesterday night, Thursday 6th May 2010 at Starbucks FX, the first meetup happened and it took us for a surprise. 31 people came to the event and discussed about Indonesia local startups.

Natali Ardianto opened the night and after that Danny Oei Wirianto from Kaskus and Semut Api Colony gave us insights and details about SparxUp Award 2010, which is a competition with several categories, and from there three winner will be selected and invited to seminars & roadshow to seven cities. Best of the best will be mentored and awarded with IDR 500,000,000. Sounds interesting? You should register soon!

If you’re confused with the definition of local startups, Rama helped us with his:

  • It must be owned by Indonesian
  • Been running for less than 3 years
  • Have maximum of 20 employees
  • Annual revenue below 1 billion IDR

After that, people started to introduce themselves one-by-one and talked about ideas and everything surrounding business. After tonight, we believe we need more and we need this to be a regular event.
